Who are Baptists?
Paul, in his letter to Timothy, made God’s plan very clear: “God will have all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of truth.” (1 Timothy 2:4). The desire to know the truth is what separates the Baptists from others. Everything that we believe is based on the only foundation that is reliable: God’s Word. If God’s Word is truly God’s Word, (and we believe it is), then we really don’t need any other book or tradition because our hope rests in the fact that God cannot lie.

Why is there a Baptist Church in Brugge?
In 1995 it was made clear to me that there was no Baptist Church in Brugge (nor her surrounding cities). We held a Bible study in our home for 3 years. We began to pray that God would give us a new meeting place other than our living room. On December 12, 1999 the Baptisten Gemeente Brugge (Brugge Baptist Church) was officially chartered. Our goal has always been to carry out the command of Christ: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15). And that’s exactly what we’re doing.

What can I expect if I visit the church?
One thing that I’ve noticed about our present day culture is that the value of the family is almost forgotten. Families don’t even eat together anymore because both parents have to work just to make ends meet. We’ve become so busy that less and less time is spent with our children and huge frustrations develop because of our choice in priorities. As a result we’re seeing a higher number of divorces; children have no respect for their parents; there are no moral standards in place, and the list goes on.
Brugge Baptist Church is geared to help with this problem, not simply to
let it get worse. We are a family oriented church.

Please come visit us. We’d love to meet you. Dennis Leavell, Pastor Friendship Family Fellowship Foundation
